How Do Six Month Smiles Braces Work?
The first step in this process is to attend an initial consultation. We will thoroughly examine your smile and take X-rays to determine whether Six Month Smiles could benefit you. We will also walk you through the process and develop a detailed treatment timeline so you know exactly what you can expect.
If you decide that you want to move forward with this treatment, we will start by placing clear brackets and tooth-colored wires to shift all of the teeth in your “smile zone” into their ideal alignment. Because this treatment is more discreet than traditional orthodontic treatment, you can continue smiling with confidence. Six Month Smiles only focuses on the part of your smile that is visible to others, so this treatment is much shorter than traditional braces.
What Orthodontic Issues Can Braces Fix?
Six Month Smiles can correct several different aesthetic issues. Here are two of the most common ones we see.
Crowded & Crooked Teeth
Six Month Smiles is likely a great solution if your teeth are overcrowded to the point where they have become crooked. This treatment can be used to realign your teeth to be the more ideal distance apart as well as correcting crookedness that’s taking away from the appearance of your smile.
Gapped Teeth
If you have gaps in your smile, Six Month Smiles can easily bring the teeth closer together. In addition to improving your appearance, closing these gaps can prevent food debris from becoming stuck in these areas and causing issues.
Caring for Your Six Months Smiles Braces
After your Six Month Smiles braces have been placed, you may experience some soreness for a week or so afterward. This should be relatively minor and can be managed by using dental wax and taking over-the-counter pain relievers as directed.
It’s important to keep your smile extra clean at this time to prevent the buildup of plaque and debris. It’s best to brush your teeth three times a day and floss daily. You should avoid foods that are particularly hard to prevent accidentally popping off one of your brackets. Dark-pigmented food can stain the braces, so you should try to limit items like tomato sauce, red wine, coffee, tea, and dark sodas. Using a straw when drinking can also help to prevent unnecessary contact with the teeth.
