Prevent Problems First

I would consider myself a “smile conservationist” first, and a “smile restorationist” second. It’s my team’s #1 goal to help our patients experience as little dentistry as possible in their lifetimes. That means preventing problems by encouraging good home-care, scheduling regular hygiene visits, taking x-rays and performing exams to find problem while they’re still small; using fluoride treatments to strengthen teeth, night guards to protect teeth, and using sealants to prevent cavities in both children and adults. Once damage or disease occurs, however, treating that damage and restoring our patients’ smiles to optimal health is critical. Our team will work with you to help protect your family’s healthy smiles, and if they arise, to restore problems using the most advanced materials and conservative techniques available.

CEREC One-Visit Crowns

Over the years, technology has steadily advanced, and the dentists at Whitinsville Family Dentistry have made it a point to keep up. One piece of modern technology, CEREC, offers us the ability to assess, create, and place your ceramic crowns, inlays, and onlays in just one visit to our Whitinsville dental office. Instead of visiting us multiple times and waiting a couple of weeks to receive your permanent restorations, CEREC one-visit crowns, inlays, and onlays give you the flexibility to choose to do it all in one trip to the dentist.

Feature: PFM Crown Replaced with CEREC

We saw this patient to replace the crown seen in the center of the “before” photo. The out-dated technology of the original crown used metal and porcelain and shows the classic “black metal line” at the gum. When that crown was first done in 1995, it took 4 weeks to make at a lab and the patient had to wear a temporary crown until it came back.

Look how far technology has come! The new crown was made by taking a 3D picture of the tooth, designing the crown shape and color in the room on the CEREC computer, milling the custom design from a CAD/CAM milling unit in our office, and permanently bonding the highly esthetic, all-ceramic, metal-free crown the same day!

Short Term Orthodontics (STO)

Sometimes called by the bracket brand name: “Six Month Smiles”.

The average treatment time for adults is 4-9 months, depending on the amount of straightening required.

These are true “braces” that cannot be taken off like Invisalign – but the brackets are clear, and the wires are tooth-colored.

New technology! The “memory wires” used in STO allow teeth to move more quickly, and with safe constant pressure thanks to advances in the Nickel-Titanium alloy technology.

Invisalign

The original “clear braces”.

Invisalign usually takes 3-4 times longer than Short Term Orthodontics (STO) – but unlike STO it can make major changes to the back teeth, and to the overall bite.

Invisalign is tried and true orthodontic science now. It takes time and pressure to move teeth – If you follow the rules, you can expect amazing results!

Whitinsville Family Dentistry: Solea CO2 Laser

Solea CO2 Laser

Laser “Tongue-Ties”

Tongue-ties can cause nursing problems for babies, speech problems for children and adults, and they can slow the proper growth and expansion of the upper jaw. With the Solea CO2 laser, most tongue-ties can be treated in a way that is minimally invasive, with little to no anesthesia required. The minimally invasive Solea laser tongue tie procedure allows for rapid healing and avoids the need for stitches altogether!

Laser Dentistry Procedures

With the Solea CO2 laser, we can often treat cavities with no pain or anesthesia. Perfect for kids and small cavities.
