Advanced Cosmetic Bonding (ACB)

Modern composite bonding materials (natural tooth-colored fillings) have come a very long way in the last 15 years.

ACB is often the ideal conservative cosmetic treatment for single tooth problems, or to cosmetically change teeth that have had very little or no fillings/crowns done to them in the past.

ACB can close spaces between teeth, change the color of teeth, add length to worn edges, and rebuild lost or broken structure.

This is not just “white fillings” – this kind of dentistry requires advanced training in the chemistry, biology, and art of restoring smiles with cosmetic materials of this nature. Even though the procedure is usually done in a single appointment, it sometimes requires 1-3 appointments to plan and set up the changes to be made.

Additionally, ACB involves the layering of multiple colors, textures, and translucencies to achieve results “indistinguishable from nature”.

Brigid

This beautiful young lady’s front tooth was fractured by a soccer ball just a few days before school picture day. Dr. Jason Tubo was able to see her for an emergency appointment that night to begin a root canal, and begin forming a plan for rebuilding her front tooth.

Rather than a crown or a porcelain veneer at such a young age, Dr. Tubo advised that the tooth be rebuilt with Advanced Cosmetic Bonding – called a custom layered resin veneer. The next day, Dr. Tubo completed Brigid’s root canal and composite, giving her a strong, conservative, and natural-looking result in time for picture day!

Matthew

Matthew chipped his front tooth at a pool on the Cape, and had a “cosmetic dentist” repair the chipped tooth that summer. His parents were not happy with the result, or the repairs that were attempted to make it look better, so they came to see Dr. Jason Tubo to find out their other options.

Dr. Tubo explained that a crown or veneer wouldn’t be necessary – and instead Advanced Cosmetic Bonding materials could be used to create a good-looking and conservative end result.

Making a final product in composite that is both beautiful and strong enough to last requires planning and preparation – and Matthew and his parents were looking to have the treatment “done right” this time.

Stephanie

Stephanie was told by her previous dentist that she would need porcelain veneers on 2 to 6 of her front teeth to cover up the white and brown spots that she didn’t like.

Dr. Jason Tubo showed her the Advanced Cosmetic Bonding could address her cosmetic concerns in a much more conservative, and much less expensive way.

By using advanced techniques, only the two discolored teeth needed treatment to achieve the result Stephanie was looking for.

Jennifer

Jen’s front tooth had been repaired multiple times at another dental office, and she came to see Dr. Jason Tubo because the repairs kept chipping. She felt the shape of the two front teeth was wrong, that the edges looked worn, and that the repairs didn’t match or blend in properly.

She was given multiple options – from straightening the edges of the four front teeth with veneers, to treating only one tooth and “butterfly” or “mirror-image” the central incisors.

After reviewing the possible designs with Dr. Jason Tubo, Jen decided to restore the single central incisor with Advanced Cosmetic Bonding.

Lisa

Lisa did not like the spaces in her smile, or the flattened worn edges of her front teeth. She had been told previously by another dentist that she would need 10 porcelain veneers to give her the smile that she was looking for, so she came to see Dr. Jason Tubo to begin the work.

Dr. Tubo showed Lisa that doing 10 veneers would certainly close the spaces in her smile, but they would also make the front teeth look very wide and short.

Dr. Tubo recommended that Lisa spend about 6 months in braces to move the teeth into the right positions before doing any restorative work on them. Then he showed her that the smile she was looking to achieve could be accomplished with Advanced Cosmetic Bonding on the four front teeth, rather than having to do 10 veneers.

The result: By going over all of her options, Lisa now has the beautiful smile she was looking for. And compared to the original plan of doing veneers, the result looks better, and was significantly less expensive.
